ATELITH ("we", "us", "our") publishes three distinct products: ATELITH for Firms — project management software designed for architecture firms; ATELITH ARE Study — an iOS and web study companion for the Architect Registration Examination (ARE 5.0); and Atelith Grid — an iOS puzzle game. This policy explains what data we collect when you use atelith.com, the ATELITHARE web companion, any of the iOS apps, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"), how we use that data, who we share it with, and your rights regarding it.
We respect your privacy and your work. ATELITH is built by an architect, for architects — and the games we make follow the same principle: collect only what's needed, and never sell your data.
By using the Service you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree, please don't use it. This policy works alongside our Terms of Use.
When you create an account on the web, we store data on our servers so your progress and subscription follow you across devices. We collect:
We do not collect: location data, contacts, browsing history outside our site, health information, or biometric data.
The iOS app is designed to keep your data on your device. We collect almost nothing.
Privacy Manifest: The ARE Study app ships with an Apple-required privacy manifest declaring its data collection. You can review it in the App Store privacy disclosure or in the app's bundle (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy).
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Service — store your study progress, validate your subscription, and sync your account across devices.
- Authenticate you and protect your account from unauthorized access.
- Send you transactional emails for web accounts — account confirmations, password resets, and billing-related notices. The iOS app sends no emails.
- Respond to your support requests.
- Improve the Service by understanding which features are used. Analytics are aggregated; we don't analyze the content of your individual study activity.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your study activity or any other data to train any AI model, nor sell it to third parties.
We share data only with the third parties we need to run the Service:
- Apple — subscription billing for the iOS app is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple has its own privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Our hosting provider — runs the servers that store your web account data, encrypted at rest and in transit.
- Our email provider — sends the transactional emails noted above.
- Apple App Store Analytics — basic crash reports and analytics may flow through Apple's standard developer tools, per Apple's policy and your device-level settings.
We will disclose data if required by law (subpoena, court order), and will tell you unless prohibited from doing so. We will never sell your personal information or study activity.
For the web app, we use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not embed third-party advertising trackers.
The iOS app uses Apple's UserDefaults to store settings and progress on-device only — no browser cookies are involved. You can clear web cookies in your browser at any time, or delete and reinstall the iOS app to clear its local data.
All data transmitted to our servers is sent over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Database backups are encrypted. Access to production data is restricted and logged.
For the iOS app, study data stored only on-device never leaves your phone, so there is no transmission risk for that content. Subscription data is handled directly between your device and Apple.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach affecting your account, we will notify you within a reasonable time and tell you what happened, what data was affected, and what we're doing about it.
For web accounts: we keep your account and progress data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove all personally identifiable information within 30 days. Backups containing your data may persist for up to 90 days before routine rotation overwrites them.
For the iOS app: your study data lives on your device only. Uninstalling the app deletes it instantly. The Apple ID identifier and subscription state are managed by Apple, not us.
You can:
- Access the data we hold about you — email us for a complete export.
- Correct account information at any time in the Account section of the web app.
- Delete your web account by emailing us; delete your iOS data by uninstalling the app.
- Object to any processing of your data and ask us to stop.
- Manage your subscription at any time in your Apple ID Settings under Subscriptions.
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us first — we want to fix it before you need to escalate.
The ARE Study product is rated 4+ on the App Store for general suitability of content, but the ARE itself is a professional examination and the product is intended for adult test candidates. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Our servers are located in the United States. If you use the web companion from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and stored in the US. By using the Service you consent to this transfer. We use standard contractual clauses where required for EU/UK users.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email or by an in-app notice at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that time means you accept the updated policy. Minor changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy — please email contact@atelithare.com. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
